ZURICH: FIFA has handed a lifetime football ban to Marco Trovato, president of Paraguayan club Olimpia, for match fixing. Along with the ban, Trovato has also been fined 100,000 Swiss francs (around $108,000), FIFA has said in a statement. FIFA's disciplinary committee found the 41-year-old guilty of "manipulation of football matches and competitions" and of failing to comply with his duty to collaborate during disciplinary proceedings.

"The decision to sanction Trovato is related to a series of matches that took place between 2018 and 2019, while he was president of the club," the world football governing body said on Monday without providing further details. IANS
