'Going Nowhere': Rohit, Virat Dismisses Retirement Rumor After CT Win

DUBAI: Massive speculations were circulated online indicating that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, two titans of Indian cricket, could hang up their boots following the conclusion of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final on Sunday in Dubai, irrespective of the outcome.

In a major sigh of relief, that rumour has now been laid to rest after team India's emphatic four-wicket victory against New Zealand to clinch the title.

After the match ended, the two senior players officially confirmed that they will not retire from the ODI format. The confirmation had come moments after their 'dandiya' celebrations in a video that went viral on social media.

It is worth mentioning the fact that Kohli and Rohit retired from the T20 format on a winning note after lifting the 2024 T20 World Cup in Barbados earlier last year.

This was expected to be the case after yesterday's final, especially amid uncertainty surrounding their future in the 50-over format in the wake of a poor run in the previous few months.

According to media reports, Rohit Sharma has been contemplating his future in ODI cricket and he was supposed to have a discussion with BCCI's chief selector Ajit Agarkar about his future in the ODI format after the final match against New Zealand.

However, the Indian captain hit back at critics speculating about their retirement saying: "Abhi hum koi retire nehi ho rahe (We Are Not Retiring Now...)."

Like Rohit, Virat Kohli also put an end to the retirement rumours, assuring that he is going nowhere and will continue to play the longer format.
