Guwahati: 4th Ayodhana Int'l Fide Rating Chess Tournament Starts Today

Guwahati: Fourth Ayodhana International Fide Rating Chess Tournament commenced at Assam Down Town University Auditorium situated here on Sunday.

Players from Tripura, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Maharastra, Bihar and also from Bangladesh are participating in the tournament.

As per an official statement, altogether, 140 players including 63 fide-rated players are participating in the event.

The tournament is formally inaugurated by Rajib Dhar, General Secretary, All Assam Chess Association. Dr Siben Dutta, President, Chess Players Parents Forum, Mr Sujaul Islam Hazarika, Treasurer, Chess Players Parents Forum, Mr Bimal Sarma, Assistant Secretary, Chess Players Parents Forum, Shantanu Barthakur. Pranab Kumar Nath, Chief Arbiter of the tournament was also present in the opening ceremony.

In the top board seed, Arpan Das of West Bengal won his first-round game against Atharva Mahanta of Assam.
