If MS Dhoni doesn't play IPL next season, I too won't play: Suresh Raina

NEW DELHI: Suresh Raina on Friday said that he has another four-five years of cricket left in him but he will retire from Indian cricket career if MS Dhoni decides to retire from the IPL. Everyone knows about the Dhoni-Raina partnership as well as their friendship. Raina said that they have the IPL this year and then two more teams next year. But he thinks that he will play only for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) till he plays. He further said that he hopes his team will do well this year.

Raina also said that if Dhoni (bhaai) doesn't play next season, he too will not play. They have been playing since 2008 for CSK, assuming if they win this year then he will convince Dhoni to play next year as well. Raina added that he will try his best and if Dhoni will not play, then he doesn't think that he will play for any IPL team.

Furthermore, Raina said that when the IPL 2021 season was stopped due to the COVID pandemic in India earlier this year, CSK were scored second in the points table. It is to be mentioned that the rest of the tournament will be played in UAE this September.

Raina and Dhoni have been part of CSK's core group of players since the inception of IPL in 2008, apart from the two years the franchise was suspended (2016 and 2017).

Thus, last year, the CSK player announced that his international retirement minutes after Dhoni revealed his decision public in his Instagram post.
