India's Ace Shuttler Saina Nehwal ties knot with badminton star Parupalli Kashyap

Guwahati: India's Ace Shuttler Saina Nehwal on Friday shares her photos from her wedding with fellow badminton star Parupalli Kashyap on her social media pages.

The 2012 London Olympics bronze medallist made the announcement on Twitter, calling it “Best match of my life”.

As per reports, the two badminton players have been training under Pullela Gopichand since 2005.

Speaking to a national media, shuttler Saina said, “We started travelling for bigger tours from 2007-08 onwards. We played tournaments together, trained together and slowly, started paying more attention to each other’s matches. We both found it very easy to talk to each other, talk about our matches. The feeling gradually grew."

Earlier, Saina Nehwal also stated before the media that she would be busy with the Premier Badminton League from December 20 and then qualifiers for the Tokyo Games will begin, thus, the couple decided to tie the knot on December 16 this year.

It may be mentioned that Shuttler Saina has been one of the best in the women’s circuit and is currently playing in the Korea Open. She has won 20 major titles, an Olympic bronze and a silver at the World Championships. On the other hand, shuttler Kashyap has been a force to reckon with, having reached the highs of a World No. 6 ranking before injuries hindered his rise in the men’s circuit.

She added, “A player needs treatment and attention just like a baby. At home, I get everything without asking, but this will change once I get married. I will be equally responsible of doing things on my own.”

She also mentioned that she didn’t want to rush things before the CWG and Asian Games. But as of now, the couple thinks that they are ready for it and can manage things on their own.

Further, she also revealed that they as a couple used to be together most of the time along with their parents during travelling.
