ISL side Hyderabad FC sign Assam footballer Halicharan Narzary

Guwahati: Assam midfielder Halicharan Narzary has reportedly penned a two-year deal with the Indian Super League (ISL) side Hyderabad FC till the end of the 2021-22 season.

26-year-old Narzary has been a top-tier footballer for seven teams in the last decade, with four of them in the Indian Super League (ISL). The Assam footballer was last seen in action playing for the Kochi-based Kerala Blasters team.

The Kokrajhar lad began his career in 2010 with AIFF's developmental side Indian Arrows in the I-League.

The Assam footballer joined the Highlanders in 2016 for ISL's third season before turning out for I-League side Shivajians FC a year later.

Narzary said it's a new team and personally an "exciting challenge" for him. He said that he is eager to regroup with his new teammates soon. He hopes that once the situation is "better", the games can commence.

"I have known (coach) Albert Roca since his first stint in India and working with his philosophy is something that motivates me. I have loved how his teams used to play and I think these are exciting times for the club," the Assa, footballer told reporters.

Meanwhile, Roca says he is an exciting player and has been a "valuable asset" for both club and country over the last few years.

"His experience and work rate coupled with his skill set, and the ability to play on either flank and in attack will be important for us as a team this season. We're very happy to have him and hope he will have a significant impact for us in the ISL," Roca further stated.

It needs mention here that the Assam winger spent the latter half of his first season Chennaiyin FC with the Blasters on loan, prior to going back to the Kochi-based side and gradually becoming a decisive character of the team under Eelco Schattorie in the 2019-20 season.
