Kailash Nath Sarma Memorial All India Online Inter-School Children Chess Championship 2020 concluded

GUWAHATI, Sept 8: The 2nd Edition of the Kailash Nath Sarma Memorial All India Online Inter-School Children Chess Championship 2020 concluded on Monday.

Altogether 300 school students from 15 states of the country registered for this 3-day chess event where competition were held in three groups - Upto Class 4, Class 4 to 8 and Class 9 to 12.

Shahil Dey of Maria's Public School adjudged best player of the meet while his school collected the best School award in the competition. Karnav P Deka of Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti received fair play award.

The closing ceremony was held online through a video conference in which Dharmakanta Mili, Director of Sports and Youth Welfare, attended as the chief guest while renowned Chess Grandmaster Srinath Narayanan of Tamilnadu was the guest of honour.

The top five position holders in each of the category of this tournament received scholarship in the form of online chess coaching by renowned trainer which include Grandmaster Srinath Narayanan, International Master Atanu Lahiri, Fide Trainer Biswajit Bharadwaj and Nandan Buragohain.
