Bulawayo: Lhuan-dre Pretorius became the youngest South African to score a Test century during the first Test against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo on Saturday.
Playing in his debut Test, Pretorius, aged 19 years and 93 days, reached his century with a single off his 113th ball in the second session of the opening day. With this, Pretorius broke the record previously held by Graeme Pollock, who was 19 years and 317 days old when he scored a century against Australia in 1964 in Sydney. Earlier in the day, he had broke Pollock’s record of becoming the youngest South Africa to score a Test fifty. Pretorius’ quick-fire knock helped South Africa recover from an early collapse, which saw the side reduced to 55 for four in the first session. Agencies
