16th Captain Jintu Gogoi Soccer from February 23 in Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh: The 16th Captain Jintu Gogoi, Vir Chakra memorial football tournament will commence at the Army Polo Ground, Paltan Bazar, Dibrugarh under the aegis of Dao Division under Operation SADBHAVANA from February 23. The tournament is a tribute to the Kargil hero Late Captain Jintu Gogoi, Vir Chakra. The opening ceremony will take place on Sunday which will be attended by the father of Late Capt Jintu Gogoi, retired flying officer TR Gogoi.

General officer commanding Dao Division, Major General Sanjeev Chauhan, YSM and famous writer Dr. Nagen Saikia will be the chief guests of the ceremony.

The first match of the tournament will be played between the girls team of Moran Town Women XI and Tengakhat college on Sunday as an inaugural match. Along with these teams, two more women teams of Tea Sports Academy Raja Ali and Khowang College will be participating in the tournament. 20 boys team are also participating in the meet which are divided into two pools.

Winning prize of Rs 75000 will be awarded to the winner team of boys section and Rs 50000 and Rs 30000 will be awarded to 1st runner up and 2nd runner up teams respectively along with trophies for all three teams. In girls category a prize of Rs 50000 and Rs 20000 will be awarded to the winning team and runner up teams respectively along with trophies for first two teams.
