1st NE Little Masters Cricket begins today

GUWAHATI: In a significant move to boost grassroots cricket across the North East, the inaugural edition of the North East (NE) Little Masters Trophy 2025, an Under-14 boys’ tournament will kick off on Saturday at the ACA Cricket Academy Ground in Amingaon, North Guwahati. The competition is organized by Assam Cricket Association.

A first-of-its-kind initiative, the tournament will feature eight teams representing the North Eastern states, competing in a 40-over format. The aim is to provide budding cricketers with a platform to showcase their talent, gain match experience, and promote the spirit of sportsmanship.

 The participating teams are divided into two groups: Group A: Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram.  Group B: Tripura, Sikkim, Manipur, Nagaland. The final is scheduled for April 30. 

A curtain-raiser event was held on Friday at the 91 Yards Club Auditorium, ACA Stadium, where the tournament trophy was officially unveiled. The event was graced by Devajit Saikia, Secretary of the BCCI, as the Chief Guest, along with MKJ Majumdar (Member, BCCI Apex Council), ACA Secretary Tridib Konwar and other dignitaries.

Speaking at the ceremony, BCCI Secretary Saikia lauded the initiative and congratulated the Northeastern cricket associations for their efforts. He emphasized the importance of such tournaments in identifying and nurturing young talent, while also offering valuable exposure and competitive experience.
