All Assam Inter-district Lawn Bowls Championships begins at Lawn Bowls Green, Sarusajai

GUWAHATI: The 10th Senior and 1st Junior All Assam Inter-district Lawn Bowls Championships got under way under the auspices of Lawn Bowling Association Assam (LBAA) at the Lawn Bowls Green, Sarusajai here today. Altogether 85 payers from 13 districts across the state of Assam are participating in the annual championships.

The championships are being organised in pairs and triples events for both men and women and mixed pairs in seniors and singles for both boys and girls and mixed pairs for juniors.

In the juniors, Tezpur have set up semifinal clash with Kokrajhar, while Jorhat will lock horns with Dibrugarh in the other boys' singles semifinal. In girls' singles, Sivasagar will meet Udalguri in one semifinal and Dibrugarh will clash with Kamrup Rural in the other semifinal.

Director of Sports and Youth Welfare, Govt of Assam, Nibedan Das Patowary attended the Opening Ceremony as the chief guest. The other presents in the function included Amitabh Basumatary, Commandant, 4th Commando Battalion, as guest of honour. LBAA president Durgadas Boro and secretary Naba Basumatary. The Lawn Bowling Association Assam also felicitated Nayanmoni Saikia for being one of the recipients of the Arjuna Award, 2022.
