ASEBSC To Face OILFC in Bordoloi Trophy Final Today

GUWAHATI: Last year runners Oil India Limited football club (OILFC) will take on former Champion Assam State Electricity Board Sports Club (ASEBSC) in the final of the 66th Bordoloi Trophy Football championship here tomorrow. The match will kick off at 6-00 in the evening.

It will be the eighth occasion when the local outfit will appear in the final of the Bordoloi Trophy. ASEBSC earlier entered into the title clash in 1988, 1999, 2002, 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2014 and won the title for fourth occasions (1988, 2006, 2009 and 2014). On the other hand, Duliajan outfit, who won the title in 1990, 2008 and 2012, will play their seventh final in the competition. Last year also the side played into the finals but lost the title clash to Mohammedan Sporting.

On paper, both the teams are equally strong but a lot depends on how they utilize the opportunities that will come to their way during the game. ASEBSC, who recently won Guwahati Super Division Soccer League title, earned final berth beating FC Green Valley 3-2 in a well contested second semi-final. OILFC entered into the final thrashing Assam Regimental Centre in the other semi-final by 4-1.

Both teams will face each other in Bordoloi Trophy final for the second time. Earlier, OILFC won 2008 final by 3-0.
