Assam Cricket Association announced Cash Award for State Cricketers

ACA Bumper : Struck century in Ranji and get Rs 2 lakh : Take five-fer to win Rs 1 lakh

GUWAHATI: With an aim to encourage the State cricketers the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) today announced performance-based cash award for the season 2019-20 here today. Cricketers from U-16 to senior and both male and female are entitled for the incentives.

The Assam Cricket Association are also taking some steps to promote the cricket in grass root level and as a part of it they will introduce a school level cricket championship in the name of renowned sports organizer Pulin Das. The competition will begin next year.

Addressing a media gathering the president of the Assam Cricket Association Ramen Dutta today said, “We have decided to introduce cash award for our cricketers who will come out with good performance in the upcoming season. We feel the announcement will help the cricketers to motivate and bring out his best for the team.”

ACA will give Rs 2 lakh for each century in the Ranji Trophy. On the other hand Rs one lakh will be given to each bowler who will take five wickets in an innings. The amount will be Rs 3 lakh if a bowler takes 10 wickets in a Ranji match. Cash awards announced for the limited overs competition like Vijay Hazare and Syed Mushtaq Ali tournaments also. A cricketer will collect Rs one lakh for a century and Rs 2 lakh for 10-wicket haul in a match.

Meanwhile Assam Cricket Association today announced the date of JK Barua, RG Barua and Assam Premier Club Championship. The first tournament will be held from December 20 and the second one from December 14. The third championship will kick off on December 1.

Dutta also announced that the Assam Cricket Association has planned to develop cricket ground in different parts of the State. “We will soon start six cricket academies in different areas and for that we need good ground. Recently we have signed a MoU with District Administration of Kamrup (R) for developing a cricket ground and to construct necessary infrastructure including a pavilion in Amingaon. Similar steps will be taken in other areas also.”

He also added: “Former Ranji cricketer of Assam Naba Konwar has been inducted in the Apex Council of ACA as player’s representative. His name was recommended by the Indian Cricketers Association.”

Media briefing was also attended by the secretary of the Assam Cricket Association Devajit Saikia, Treasurer Tridib Konwar and vice President Parikshit Dutta.

Cash award for Women and junior cricketers: Women (senior)-century: Rs 2 lakh, 10 wickets in a match: Rs 2 lakh. U-16, 19 and 23 (both boys and girls)- century in a match: Rs One lakh, 10 wickets in a match: Rs 2 lakh.
