DEMOW: The Prize Money Open Chess Competition was held at Demow College on Sunday. The event is being organized under the patronage of the Demow Regional Chess Association, in association with the Demow Chess Academy and the People.

The programme started with the lighting of an earthen lamp in front of the photo of late Dipak Ghatowar, a Chess Player International Level Arbiter, which was lit by Arun Ghatowar. The competition was inaugurated by Utpal Barua, a 7- time State champion as well as a National-level player.

Sushanta Borgohain, MLA of Demow Constituency, was present as the chief guest.

In the open category, Cheniram Pegu won the title while Neelabh Jyoti Borthakur and Rakesh Chakravorty grabbed the second and third position respectively.
