GUWAHATI: Titan Club lifted the Rashmi Bala Tamuli GSA B Division Cricket League title, defeating Young Amateur Club by 11 runs in a closely contested final at Nehru Stadium here on Wednesday.
Invited to bat first, Titan Club posted 119/6 in their 20 overs. Ravi Raj Singh (27), Sujeet Gowala (26 no), and Rajat Pareek (21) were the main contributors with the bat. Bicky Ali was the pick of the bowlers for Young Amateur, claiming 2/11.
In reply, Young Amateur Club fell short, managing 108/9 in their 20 overs, thanks to a brilliant spell from Lalla Ram, who took four wickets for 22 runs in his four-over spell. Rajib Chetri (32) top-scored for Young Amateur, while Sumit Basfor (21) also made a notable contribution.
Both Titan Club and Young Amateur Club have earned promotion to the A Division League next season.
The closing ceremony was graced by eminent cricket coach Nabab Ali as the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries present included former state cricketer Dr. Pranab Bhattacharyya (Guest of Honour), Ganesh Tamuli, Chairman of North East Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (Special Guest), GSA President Paresh Chandra Das, and its other office bearers.
Individual Awards: Man of the Final: Lalla Ram (Titan). Best Bowler: Lalla Ram (Titan). Best Batter: Sumit Basfor (Young Amateur). Man of the Tournament: Sumit Basfor (Young Amateur).
