GUWAHATI: The Assam women’s cricket team kicked off their tour of Malaysia with a commanding 6-wicket win over Malaysia XI at the Bayuemas Oval on Monday.
Invited to bat first, Malaysia XI struggled to build partnerships and were dismissed for just 148 in 40 overs. Elsa Hunter top-scored with a resilient 79 (no). For Assam, Nirupama Baro was the standout bowler, claiming 3 wickets for 17 runs, while Monikha Das (2/16) and Rashmi Dey (2/25) also played key roles in the bowling attack.
In response, Assam chased down the target in 27.1 overs, losing four wickets along the way. Khushi Sharma was the star of the chase, scoring a quick-fire 59 off 59 balls. Amontika Munda contributed a steady 41 off 60 balls, and Monikha Das added an unbeaten 32 off 26 balls.
Monikha Das was named Player of the Match for her all-round performance.
