GUWAHATI: Former International athlete Tayabun Nisha feels that exercise should be the part of a sportsperson's daily routine even if he or she has to stay off from sports arena due to COVID situation. In an interaction with The Sentinel the veteran athletes also advises the sportsperson to stay in touch with their respective coaches during the break. Here is the excerpt.

The Sentinel (TS): Surge in COVID cases once again brought a lot of restriction in State's sports arena...

Tayabun: Yes. It should be. We should always give first priority to our life.

(TS): How the sportsperson should handle the situation?

Tayabun: Last year we don't have too much idea. But now we have. Unless there is necessity players should stay at home as much as possible and do regular exercise. Exercise, including strength training, is must. It will help them to stay fit and quickly return into the form when the situation turns normal.

(TS): Right guidance. Can you elaborate a little?

Tayabun: I feel players must stay in touch with their respective coaches and time to time should take their guidance on different areas of their training. They can also check YouTube channel for relevant exercise of their game which are available in good numbers. I also suggest them to do yoga. It is very-very helpful in this type of situation.

(TS): What about the present scenario of athletics in Assam...

Tayabun: It's improving. Our junior athletes in the recent past had made good performances in different tournaments. It's a good sign. They should keep focus on their training so that we can get good result from them in the senior category also.

(TS): Indian relay team couldn't able to take part in World Relay Meet because of travel restriction. Are you upset?

Tayabun: I got the news. Our own Hima Das was one of the members in Indian contingent. It's an unfortunate incident.
