GUWAHATI: Barekuri FC staged a remarkable comeback to earn a full three points in the GPL football match, defeating Assam Police 4-2 in a thrilling contest at Judges Field here on Wednesday.
Assam Police initially dominated, taking an early 2-0 lead within 29 minutes. Rakesh Das opened the scoring in the 27th minute, and Rohit Hembrom doubled the advantage two minutes later. However, Barekuri quickly regrouped and began controlling the game. Their persistence paid off in stoppage time of the first half when L. Shangneireng found the net (45+2).
In the second half, Barekuri showcased an attacking master class, with Parag Moran scoring twice and Letminlian Kom adding another to seal their comeback victory.
In the other match, United Chirangduar outclassed G Plus Athletic with an emphatic 5-1 win. Goals from Onguene Nekengue Junior (30’), Nayan Kumar Deka Rabha (69’), Kaoushik Daimary (81’), Timothi Narazary (83’) and Rishikesh Brahma (90+2’) powered Chirangduar to a convincing victory. Twansawan Langsuang (90+3’) managed a consolation goal for G Plus.
