DIBRUGARH: Brahmaputra Volleyball Super League 2.0, hosted by the OIL at its Field Headquarters, Duliajan concluded successfully on April 7. The event was graced by Dr. Alka Mittal, CMD, ONGCL, Anurag Sharma, Director (Onshore), ONGCL, Pankaj Kumar Goswami, Director (Operations), OIL, Somesh Ranjan, ED- Chief CSR, ONGCL and Prasanta Borkakoty, RCE, OIL.

The closing ceremony was held at Duliajan club followed by the final matches played at the Nehru Maidan volleyball court. The final match for Girls under 16 category was bagged by team Hazarika para from Darrang district while under 16 Boys was won by team Hatinga from Sonitpur district. In the Under 21 category, the Dhemaji girls' team won while the Rangoni Boys Team from Sonitpur District bagged the winner prize.

In her address, Dr Alka Mittal, CMD, ONGCL lauded the individual efforts of each player who played in BVL season 2.0 and motivated them to enjoy every moment of the game irrespective of who wins or loses. She also expressed her gratitude to OIL for smoothly organizing the super league matches at Duliajan and nearby areas.

Pankaj Kumar Goswami, Director (Operations) commented that OIL management takes immense pride in associating with ONGC and creating a platform called BVL for young, talented volleyball players across Assam. Volleyball has helped in bringing the players of various age groups from across Assam and this has also helped to strengthen the bonding between communities of Assam, he added.

Brahmaputra Volleyball Super League Season-2 was organized as a part of Assam Volleyball Mission (AVM) 100, under which more than 300 matches of district and zonal level has been played covering 93 locations in 28 districts of Assam. In line with AVM 100 and for popularizing the sport of volleyball in OIL's operational areas, 'OIL Volleyball Mission,' a grassroots volleyball development program was launched in FY 21-22 under OIL's CSR in association with Assam Volleyball Mission 100. In addition to teams across the State of Assam, a number of teams (around 54 girls & boys' teams) developed under OIL's Volleyball Mission belonging to OIL's operational areas were also part of this mega league.

The BVL season 2.0 hosted by OIL with the objective of giving major impetus to volleyball in the region as well as for supporting the noble cause of creating a pool of budding talents at the grassroots. In season 2.0, a total of 60 matches were played in the aforementioned six days in six different locations of Duliajan and OIL's operational areas of upper Assam wherein a congregation of over 400 persons comprising young players, coaches, officials, VIPs and sports enthusiasts from Assam and elsewhere took part.
