GUWAHATI: In a remarkable display of attacking football, Chhaygaon FC stormed to their maiden Assam State Premier League title with a commanding 4–0 victory over Eleven Star Club of Bongaigaon in the final held at Dhakukhana on Tuesday. Surchandra Singh and Khaigunlen Kipgen scored two goals each in the game.

The newly-formed club, established only in 2024, has taken the state football scene by storm. Guided by seasoned coach Shantanu Basu, Chhaygaon FC showed composure, tactical discipline, and clinical finishing to secure the championship in style.

The match was barely two minutes old when Surchandra Singh opened the scoring, giving Chhaygaon an early edge. The lead was doubled just eight minutes later as Khaigunlen Kipgen slotted home a second, sending their supporters into raptures.

The team showed no signs of slowing down in the second half also. Kipgen added his second of the match in the 62nd minute, effectively putting the contest out of reach. Surchandra Singh rounded off the scoring in the 87th minute, sealing a thumping win and a memorable title triumph.

Despite showing flashes of promise and creating several chances, Eleven Star Club couldn’t convert their opportunities and were ultimately outplayed in all departments.
