GUWAHATI: The stage is set for the highly anticipated 36th Mr. Saraighat, RG Baruah Memorial All India Classic Bodybuilding Championship, which will take place on Sunday at the BKB Auditorium, Gauhati University.
This year’s championship will feature a single category competition, with cash prizes and other gifts awarded to the top 10 finishers. The Mr. Saraighat title winner will receive a cash prize of Rs 2.5 lakh—Rs 1.5 lakh from the organizers and an additional Rs 1 lakh from the IBBF President. The second and third place winners will be awarded Rs 1 lakh and Rs 80,000, respectively.
Additionally, the event will host the Ms. Saraighat Women’s Sports Model Physique Championship and Mr. Saraighat Assam competitions simultaneously.
Bhabajyoti Goswami, Secretary of the organizing committee, revealed that the top-ranked player from Assam in Mr. Saraighat 2025 will be honored with a special trophy in memory of the late sports organizer, PK Bhowmick.
Goswami also announced that several international and national medal-winning body builders from Assam, including Sabita Bania, Subhadeep Baidya, Dhruba Tamuly, Rahul Sekh, Pabitra Nath, Parikhit Hazarika, Prakash Pradhan, Barnali Basumatary, and Manjit Kalita, will be felicitated during the event.
The media briefing for the event was also attended by Padmashree Premchand Degra and Banajyoti Kaudinya.
