Core committee to look after State basketball activities

GUWAHATI: The new committee of the Assam Basketball Association will be constituted within the next two months. The decision was taken in a meeting held in the city today.

Basketball Federation of India had cancelled the affiliation of the Assam Basketball Association three years ago and the state players are facing a lot of problems because of that. However the Assam Olympic Association today took an initiative and organized the meeting to find out a solution.

The meeting, attended by the officials' of different District Associations, also constituted a core committee today to monitor the day to day activities of the association until the new committee is formed. Pallab Lochan Das, MP, elected as the chairman of the committee. The other members are Sanjib Handiq, Zahirul Haq, Kamini Sarma, Pranami Doley and Anup Choudhury (Coordinator). The meeting presided over by Lakhya Konwar, the secretary of the Assam Olympic Association, also decided to organize a State Level Basketball Championship in November. The State team for the national meet will be selected from this meet.
