Gauhati Sports Association to constitute new committee in today's AGM

Election to be held in 7 posts

GUWAHATI: The Annual General Meeting of the Gauhati Sports Association will be held tomorrow in the city. The meeting will constitute the new committee of the association for two-year term.

This time election would be held in seven posts which included president, general secretary, vice president, joint secretary, football secretary, table tennis secretary and hockey secretary.

For the post of president Munin Nobis, the current president, will contest against veteran sports organizer Pulak Goswami while for the post of general secretary Dhrubajytoi Kalita, the present office bearer, is challenged by Kajal Paul Choudhury.

The contestants for other posts are: Vice president: Bhola Boro, Debashish Bose, L Hemanta Singh and Manjit Bhagawati. Joint secretary: Khanin Dutta and Bablu Choudhury. Football secretary: Bikash Baruah and L Pranab Singh. Table tennis secretary: Gitartha Das and Suresh Kaimal. Hockey secretary: Arup Kalita and Manash Nandi.

A section of office bearers of the association were already elected unopposed earlier and the list included: Treasurer: Chhaya Boro. Vice president (Education): Dilip Kumar Dutta Choudhury. Assistant General Secretary: Ranjit Kumar Sarma and Siddhartha Sankar Deka. Cricket Secretary: Pramod Rajbongshi. Basketball Secretary: Kamini Sarma. Badminton secretary: Dipak Patowary. Volleyball secretary: Amba Saikia Patgary. Athletics secretary: Raghabendra Mazumdar.
