GUWAHATI: 91 Yards Club secured a narrow 6-run victory over Gauhati Town Club in the opening match of the GTC Men’s Summer Challenge T20 Trophy, held at Judges Field today.

Batting first after being invited, 91 Yards Club posted a total of 131 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs. Pradip Sarkar was the top scorer with a quickfire 42 (23 balls), which included four fours and two sixes. Parvez Musaraf (36) and Danish Ahmed (22) also chipped in with valuable contributions. For GTC, Nishchay Sarma delivered a fine bowling performance, finishing with figures of 3 for 16.

In reply, Gauhati Town Club fell short, managing 125 for 7 in their 20 overs. Despite fighting knocks from Victor Kashyap (25) and Sumit Kashyap (24), the team couldn’t cross the finish line. Parvez Musaraf and Kunal Sarma were instrumental with the ball for 91 Yards Club, picking up two wickets each to seal the win.

In the second match of the day, Bud Cricket Club registered a convincing 47-run victory over Navarang Club.

Opting to bat first, Bud Cricket Club posted a competitive total of 132 for 6 in their allotted  overs, thanks to a solid half-century by Jitu Ali (51, 38 balls, 4X5, 6X1).  Nibir Deka also made a valuable contribution with 33 runs, while Utpal Gayari was the pick of the bowlers for Navarang, claiming 2 wickets for 15 runs.

In reply, Navarang Club was bundled out for just 85 runs in 15.5 overs. Kaushik Giri was in sensational form with the ball, decimating the opposition batting line-up with a remarkable spell of 6 for 20 in 3.5 overs to seal the win for Bud Cricket Club.
