Guwahati: International Master Kaustav Kundu of West Bengal emerged victorious in the Chief Minister Cup–2nd Guwahati Smart City International Open FIDE Rating Chess Tournament, which concluded in the city on Friday. Kaustav secured the title with an impressive 8.5 points at the end of the 10-round competition, showcasing consistent and strategic play throughout the tournament.

International Master Mayank Chakraborty of Assam, finished as runner-up, putting up a strong performance on home turf.

For his triumph, Kaustav received a cash prize of Rs 70,000, while Mayank was awarded Rs 50,000 for his second-place finish.
