Harmanpreet Kaur’s Absence Is An Opportunity For Young Players: Shikha Pandey

GUWAHATI: All rounder of Indian Women Cricket Team Shikha Pandey today spent a few minutes with the local media during her team’s first net session at the ACA Stadium at Barsapara here. In her brief interaction, the Flight Lieutenants of the Indian Air Force feels that India will face England on a confident note after winning recent the ODI Series 2-1. Here is the excerpt.

TS: How’s your team’s first net session in Guwahati?

It’s good. The ground is really nice and the practice wicket too is very good. We’ve enjoyed the first net session here.

TS: Do you feel the ODI series victory over England will make Team India more confident in the forthcoming T20I series?

We hope so. It’s full strength England team that is visiting India. So series win against them would definitely be a morale booster for us in the T20I series.

TS: You will miss the service of key player Harmanpreet Kaur because of injury. Is it a worried factor?

Look, she is the senior member of the team and her presence would definitely help us. But I feel it is an opportunity for our junior players and they should avail it in the best possible way.

TS: As a Flight Lieutenants of the Indian Air Force how will you describe the return of Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman from Pakistan?

He is a very brave and courageous soldier. He did a commendable job. Welcome back to India Wing Commander.
