Hockey India president Gyanendro Nigombam visits Silchar

GUWAHATI: The president of Hockey India Gyanendro Nigombam visited Silchar on Sunday. Gyanendro was accompanied by the secretary of Assam Hockey Tapan Das during this tour.

Addressing a function, which was organized by Silchar DSA to felicitate Gyanendro, the Hockey India president said, "It's time for Silchar DSA to work with a mission to produce international level players. We will extend all possible helps to you."

It may be mentioned here that a few months back Silchar DSA sent a proposal to Assam Hockey for laying an Astro Turf in Silchar. Assam Hockey recently sanctioned a practice turf to the Silchar DSA but due to COVID-19 pandemic the local body could not start the work.

The secretary of Assam Hockey Das today said the media that once the turf is laid down it would really help the local players to develop their skill. He also advised the officials of Silchar DSA to chalk out plan to build a full fledged hockey Stadium.

The function was also attended by the president and secretary of Silchar DSA Babul Hore and Vijendra Prasad Singh respectively.
