ISL 2018/19: NorthEast United holds top spot After Defeating ATK in Kolkata

Ten-man Atletico de Kolkata were defeated by NorthEast United FC who won the game against the former champions by 1-0 in an Indian Super League (ISL) clash at the Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan (Salt Lake Stadium) on 4 October.

The result makes NorthEast undefeated after two games also picking four points. The side played out a 2-2 draw against FC Goa in their first game on 1st October.

Atletico de Kolkata previously faced a defeat after losing 0-2 to Kerala Blasters at home on 29 October.

Both teams struggled in the last season of ISL with NorthEast finishing at the bottom of the table and Atletico de Kolkata were just one place above them.

Atletico de Kolkata is a two-time winner whereas NorthEast United FC is yet to win its first title.

The 2018–19 Indian Super League season regular season kicked off on 29 September 2018 and is scheduled to conclude in March 2019.
