Khelo India: Upasha Talukdar gives Assam 2 more medals

GUWAHATI: Local girl Upasha Talukdar continued her good show in the 3rd Khelo India Games and picked up two more medals including one silver at the Bhogeswari Phukanani stadium here today. She collected bronze on Friday.

Upasha stood second in the U-17 Rhythmic Gymnastics (ball) event while won a bronze medal in the Rhythmic Gymnastics (Rope) category. However, except Upasha’s show, there was nothing for Assam on Day II. In the table tennis event most of the players lost their first round matches. There was not too much success in kabaddi as well as athletics, judo and archery. In the kabaddi U-17 girls team registered victory against Madhya Pradesh by 25-22. In the medal tally host are now placed in 17th position with 3 medals which included one silver and two bronze. Among the other North East states Tripura are placed at fifth spot (4 gold, one silver) and Manipur (one gold, four bronze) at 12th.
