Kokrajhar ready to host Durand Cup from August 5 2023

KOKRAJHAR: Stage is all set to host the 132nd Durand Cup at SAI (STC) Stadium, Kanthalguri in Kokrajhar from August 5 next. All preparations are in finishing touch. The construction of iron gallery with around 12,000 seating capacity around the field, earth filling, repairing of existing rooms of SAI, beautification and expan-sion and widening of approaching roads to SAI are completed while participating teams will arrive on August 3. The Bodoland FC team is already practising in Simbargaon field.

The big cultural team has been doing rehearsal in SAI ground to perform during Grand Opening Ceremony on August 5. The Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will grace the grand opening ceremony as the chief guest. Besides, the Chief of Army Staff General Manaj Pande, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, CEM of BTR Pramod Boro, president of All India Football Federation (AIFF) Kalyan Chaubey and other dignitaries from civil and defence will attend the ceremony.

The CEM of BTC Pramod Boro and EM of Sports and Youth Welfare, Daovsisa Boro appealed to all to enjoy the mega football tournament. They hoped that the Durand Cup will bring a new inspiration among the youths in football in Bodoland region.

It may be mentioned that eight teams will play in SAI, Kokrajhar beginning from August 5. The teams are Bo-doland FC, Odisha FC, Rajasthan FC, Shillong Lajong FC, Indian Army FT, Delhi FC, Tribhuvan Army Nepal FT and Down Town Heroes FC.
