Lawn Bowling Association felicitates Durgadas Boro

GUWAHATI: The Lawn Bowling Association Assam (LBAA) today felicitated its founder president and veteran sports organizer Durgadas Boro, MLA of Assam Legislative Assembly, in recognition of his long-time contributions towards development of sports in Assam.

A former state sports minister, Boro was elected to the Assam Legislative Assembly in the recent state elections. He took the initiative to secure reservations for sportspersons in the first session of the incumbent Assam Legislative Assembly upon which the Assam government took several landmark policy decisions to encourage the sportspersons.

Accepting the honours Boro thanked the sports fraternity for the encouraging gesture and said: "This has motivated me further to worked with more sincerity for the development of sports in the remaining years of my life."

Being part of the Government of Assam's MLAs advisory panel for sports he also assured to take up different aspects of sports for its all-round development in the state in the coming days.

Apart from the LBAA and lawn bowls players of Assam, several other sports organizations also honoured Boro in the same function.

The felecitation ceremony, presided over by Lawn Bowling Association Assam's acting president Manoj Saikia, was attended among others by AOA general secretary Lakhya Konwar, vice presidents Bishnu Ram Nunisa and Rajib Prakash Baruah, Lawn Bowling Association Assam secretary Naba Basumatary and several office bearers of various sports organisations such as Dhruba Kalita, Bipul Sarma, Angshuman Dutta, Jehirul Haque, Bhabajyoti Goswami and Hiren Gogoi.
