ITANAGAR: In a significant step towards the successful execution of the much-anticipated International Marathon at Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh, a joint coordination meeting was held on July 16 at the local Army Brigade of the border district.

The session brought together key stakeholders, including the district administration led by deputy commissioner Namgyal Angmo, the Indian Army’s Tawang Brigade under Brigadier Bhupal Singh, and the event’s organising partner Cyruns, who participated virtually.

The meeting focused on ensuring a seamless and well-coordinated marathon experience, with special emphasis on logistics, publicity, and sustainability.

A detailed presentation by brigade officers reviewed key takeaways from the previous edition, highlighting the collaborative efforts of the district administration, Indian Army, Cyruns, and other stakeholders.

Cyruns representatives shared updates on the ongoing promotional activities, including city-based promo runs being held across India to generate excitement for the upcoming event.

Among the key decisions made was a collective commitment to strengthen outreach through both digital and traditional platforms. The organising team also announced that this year’s marathon will avoid the use of pet water bottles and significantly cut down single-use plastics in its publicity materials, reaffirming its commitment to environmental sustainability.

“Tawang international marathon is not just a sporting event but a celebration of our unique culture and natural beauty,” the DC said and added that with greater coordination and sustainable practices, the administration is committed to making this year’s marathon even more impactful.

Brigadier Singh said, “The Indian Army is proud to support this initiative. Together with the civil administration and partners, we aim to deliver an inspiring and secure event that reflects the spirit and hospitality of Tawang”.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to hold further follow-ups in the coming weeks to ensure preparations remain on track for the grand event.
