Muted celebrations mark 102nd birth anniversary of Pulin Das

GUWAHATI: The 102nd Pulin Das Birth Centenary Celebrations were observed privately at the residence of his eldest son, eminent sports organizer Kalyan Kumar Das. The muted celebrations were in adherence to the COVID protocols given the pandemic situation.

Late Pulin Das, a sporting legend in his own right, made immense contributions towards the upliftment of sports and sports journalism in the State. He passed away in 2014 at the age of 97 after a life dedicated to sports.

His eldest son, Kalyan Kumar Das, a former tennis champion himself and currently President of the Guwahati Lawn Tennis Association and the Secretary of the Pulin Das Birth Centenary Celebration Committee arranged the celebrations at his residence at Lamb Road, Guwahati. He said, "The Pulin Das Birth Centenary Celebration Committee has decided to hold an elaborate function next year given that the pandemic might get over by then. So we look forward to next year."
