Northeast Futsal League Begins Today at Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Indoor Stadium

GUWAHATI: Northeast Futsal League (NEFL) is all set to kick-off at the Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Indoor Stadium today. Altogether six teams will participate in the tournament and after the group stage best two teams will qualify for the final Northeast Futsal League which will be held on August 31.

The competition is already subject matter among city-based sports lovers as it will be the first mixed-gender futsal competition in the country. Already international footballers from Spain and other countries, which will be the part of six participating teams, arrived in the city. Each team will have two foreign players-one male and one female along with other local players.

All the foreign players today attended the jersey and match ball unveiling function which was held in a city hotel. Ranajit Mahanta, and Biswajit Mahanta, two key officials of the organizing committee, today informed the media that the inaugural function will be held at the Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Indoor Stadium tomorrow afternoon where Alobo Naga (Nagaland) and Equilibrium (Goa) will perform. It will be followed by the opening game between Assam Titans vs Nagaland Super 5. The other teams in the competition are: Meghalaya thunders, Apunba Manipur, Arunachal Highlanders and Mizo Falcons.
