Parthiv Upsets Top Seed to Enter U-16 Semis

GUWAHATI: The 6th seed Parthiv Kalita of Assam caused a major upset in the boys U-16 singles quarter final by defeating top seed Sidhant Choudhury of Bihar 9-4 in the OIL-AITA Super Series Tennis at the AATA complex in the city on Thursday.

In another upset in the girl’s singles U-14 quarter final event 6th seed Purvi Patwa of Uttarakhand outclassed 2nd seed Sanrachana Das of Odisha 9-6.

 The competition, which was suspended on Wednesday due to heavy rain, restarted today. All the quarter finals and the semifinals matches are being played best of seventeen games due to bad weather conditions.

The finals of both singles and doubles events will be held on Friday.
