GUWAHATI: Shillong Lajong FC and NorthEast United FC (NEUFC) advanced to the semi-finals of the 70th Bordoloi Trophy Football Championship after their quarter-final victories at the Judges Field on Sunday. Shillong Lajong FC delivered a dominant 6-1 win over Lenroul FC, while NEUFC triumphed 2-0 against Rani Coaching Centre.

The two victorious teams will meet in the second semi-final on Tuesday.

In the first match of the day, NEUFC earned a spot in the semi-finals with a 2-0 win. Dany Meitei opened the scoring for NEUFC in the 17th minute, and Asharaf sealed the win with a second goal in the 78th minute.

The last quarter-final match between Shillong Lajong FC and Lenroul FC was a one-sided affair. Lajong could have won by an even greater margin had they not squandered a few easy chances. Lajong took the lead early in the 8th minute through Baby Sunday, who later added another in the 44th minute. The scoreline was further extended by goals from Yohan, Owani, Ribor, and Welson. Lenroul FC managed to pull one back through Badondor in the 59th minute.

The first semi-final will be held on Monday, featuring NFRSA against Global FC, with the match kicking off at 4:30 PM.
