Torch Relay of 3rd Khelo India Youth Games reaches Dima Hasao

Haflong: The Torch Relay of the 3rd Khelo India Youth Games, 2020 reached Haflong on Monday for which an event was organized by the Dima Hasao District Sports Officer at N L Daulagupu Sports Complex.

NCHAC Chief Executive Member Debolal Gorlosa lit the torch and flagged off the relay in presence of NCHAC, Sports and Welfare Executive Member, Golonjoy Thaosen, chairman of Haflong Municipal Board and NCJAC MAC, Manjit Naiding and Additional Deputy Commissioner Deepak Jidung.

Encouraging the youth present during the event, CEM Gorlosa stressed the importance of physical activities and sports in today’s world. Citing the example of renowned sportspersons from the Northeast like Hima Das, Mary Kom, Baoringdao Bodo, Rakesh Pradhan, and bodybuilder Pranab Langthasa, he said that sports were equally important as studies.

Eminent international sports personality in the field of bodybuilding, Pranab Langthasa was also present during the event. The Government of Assam, in collaboration with the Assam Olympic Association, has organized a torch relay of the 3rd Khelo India Youth Games, 2020, in all districts. The torch relay was earlier launched by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in Guwahati.

The objective of the torch relay is to disseminate the message of games throughout the State of Assam and to mobilize the support and active participation of all sections of society. The torch is being carried by four groups comprising of office bearers of Olympic Association, officials of Sports and Youth Welfare Department, Babul Dutta, eminent sports personality, and Joel Bey, a former football player from Karbi Anglong district.

GOLAGHAT: The torch relay of 3rd Khelo India Youth Games 2020 arrived in Golaghat on Monday. International athlete Kushal Lahon carried the Games flame in Golaghat. The flame was officially handed over to the Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat, Dhiren Hazarika. In this context, a run rally was organized which started from Golaghat Stadium throughout Golaghat town.
