GUWAHATI: We R North East (WRNE) defeated Guwahati City Cricket Coaching Centre (GCCC) by 45 runs in a match of the 2nd TOPCEM-ASJA All Assam Inter-School/Coaching Centre U-16 Cricket Championships at the Nehru Stadium here on Wednesday. With this victory We R North East, the defending champion, stormed into the semi final. Winning the toss, WRNE posted 217 for 8 in the allotted 35 overs. Arbaz Suhail Zaman was the highest scorer with 48 runs. Arnab Bardhan hit an unbeaten 40 off just 28 balls. Dhiman Deep Kashyap scored 31 while Jyotishman Bhattacharjee contributed 30. For GCCC, Bishal Singh picked up 3 wickets for 36. In reply, GCCC managed to score 172/8 in 35 overs. Captain Mridu Madhurya Kashyap played a patient innings of 52 in 91 balls and Zawed Aftab Ali scored 31. Nihal Ahmed and Arnab Bardhan picked up 2 wickets each for WR North East.
