Manipur's Olympic Medallist Mirabai Chanu Meets Cricket Legend Sachin Tendulkar

NEW DELHI: Tokyo Olympics silver medallist – Mirabai Chanu met cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar in Mumbai on August 11.

"Loved meeting @sachin_rt (Sachin Tendulkar) Sir this morning! His words of wisdom & motivation shall always stay with me. Really inspired," Mirabai Chanu tweeted.

Earlier, the cricket legend reacted to the viral video of a little girl imitating Tokyo Olympics silver-medallist Mirabai Chanu's famous victory at the showpiece event.

The little girl can be seen recreating Chanu's famous lift which elevated her to the podium in Tokyo and earned India its first medal on the opening day of the 2020 Tokyo Games.

Chanu became the first Indian athlete to win a medal at the Tokyo Games after clinching a silver medal in the women's 49kg weightlifting. She brought an end to a 21-year-long wait for India's second Olympic medal in weightlifting as she bettered Karam Malleswari's bronze medal from the Sydney Olympics in 2000.

Her medal triumph sent the entire country in a frenzy with wishes pouring in from all corners. Weightlifting champion Sathish Sivalingam shared a video on Twitter where a little girl can be seen recreating Chanu's historic win at her home. "Junior @mirabai_chanu this s called the inspiration," the video was captioned as it went viral in no time.

After Chanu herself reacted to the video and said she loved it, Tendulkar took to Twitter to react on the same. "This is how the journey begins," Master Blaster wrote on Twitter.

Earlier Chanu, who received a rousing welcome back home in Manipur on Tuesday, also reacted to the video of the little girl copying her and wrote - "So cute. Just love this."
