GUWAHATI: Motivation is a key factor for success and young players should get support from their parents, coaches and also from other stakeholders to excel in their discipline, said Dr Dilsad Ahmed, who is the Assistant Professor in Physical Education, Prince Mohammed Bin Fahd University, Saudi Arabia. Ahmed today attended an interactive session on motivational aspects of sports, jointly organized by the State level Advisory committee for Student and Youth Welfare and Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare. During the session he nicely highlighted the various subjects which are related to the development of sports persons in their respective fields.
Ahmed felt that Indian sportspersons are not far behind the top international athletes. Only a little bit of motivation can help them to become an international star.
However he admitted that a lot of work needed to be done in this field. “After spending certain times in the sports arena many players in our country quit sports and it happens because their level of motivation goes down. It occurs due to various reasons which include lack of proper infrastructure, lack of qualified coaches, lack of interest of their parents. less support from the school etc. Here we need to work. The job is not difficult but requires united effort”
Ahmed also felt that the Indian sports sector is not reach in a stage that can help the players to achieve their goal in a very easy way.
“Although the government has started to take various steps, we need more support and help from various sectors that include parents, school, sports organizers, coaches and others. One thing I want to repeat again that only collective effort can develop sports in a very big way in our country,” said Ahmed.
