NEUFC sign Luis Machado as second overseas player

GUWAHATI: NorthEast United FC (NEUFC) signed their second overseas player in the form of Luis Machado from Portugal for the forthcoming ISL season.

27-year old winger made more than 100 appearances in the top division in Portugal before decided to join for NEUFC,

After joining the club Luis Machado in his first reaction said, "I have heard about the ISL and the club from my peers and is looking forward to the experience. I will give my best for the team to help it achieve the objectives and bring joy to the fans."

It may be mentioned here that NEUFC, Guwahati-based club and lone representative from North East in ISL, announced the signing of Mauritanian international Khassa Camara a few days back. The French-born defensive midfielder is the first overseas signing of the club which will coached by Spaniard Gerard Nus.

Due to COVID-19 pandemic this season ISL would be held in single venue and Goa will organize the competition. The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda, the Tilak Nagar Stadium in Vasco da Gama and the GMC Athletic Stadium in Bambolim are the three venues slated to host the matches with strict training and social distancing protocols from November to March.

Last season Goa lifted the title and finished the league staying in 9th position in 10-team league.
