CHESS: Praggnanandhaa held to draw

Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa, the 2023 World Cup runner-up, shared the points with Asian Games 2023 bronze medallist Javokhir Sindarov in the men's team event. In fact, all four India vs Uzbekistan games ended in a draw as the teams shared 2.0 points, each.

On the other hand, Vaishali Rameshbabu beat Vo Thi Kim Phung as India won 2.5-1.5 against Vietnam in the women's team event. Koneru Humpy, Vantika Agrawal and Savitha Shri Baskar also drew their games.

BRIDGE: Men's team continue top spot challenge

The Indian men's bridge team are ranked second after 196 boards with 205.98 points. India beat Pakistan and the Philippines while losing to Bangladesh and Thailand in the men's team event.

Meanwhile, in the women's team event, India are seventh with 69.1 points in 140 boards. They lost to Hong Kong China and China but beat Indonesia in their third match today.

ATHLETICS: Nandini Agasara fastest in heptathlon 200m heats

Nandini Agasara clocked 24.47 seconds, a personal best time, to top the timesheet in the 200m heats of the women's heptathlon event. A 936 points haul in the round took her fourth in the overall standings with 3328 points, 25 shy of a podium position.

Swapna Barman finished ninth with a time of 26.16, adding 783 points to her tally. However, she moved down to sixth position in the stand-ings with three events left to be played.

BOXING: Nishant Dev knocked out in the quarters

Nishant Dev lost 5:0 on points against Japan's Sewonrets Quincy Mensah Okazawa in the men's 71kg quarter-final.

WEIGHTLIFTING: Bindyarani Devi fifth in women's 55kg final:

Bindyarani Devi scored 196 points to rank fifth in the women's 55kg final. The 24-year-old lifted 83kg in the snatch round while lifting 113kg in the clean and jerk round, both in her third attempts.

WEIGHTLIFTING: Mirabai Chanu fails to win medal:

Tokyo Olympics silver medallist Mirabai Chanu finished fourth in the women's 49kg weightlifting final. The 29-year-old Indian weightlifter reg-istered best lifts of 83kg in snatch and 108kg in clean and jerk to achieve a combined score of 191.

DIVING: India finish sixth in men's synchronised 3m springboard:

London Singh Hemam and Siddharth Bajrang Pardeshi finished sixth, scoring 279.87 points, in the men's synchronised 3m springboard final

ATHLETICS: Aishwarya finishes fourth in women's 400m final

Aishwarya Mishra clocked 53.50 seconds in the women's 400m final to finish fourth. The 26-year-old sprinter was 0.92 seconds shy of a bronze medal in the event.

BASKETBALL: Women's 3x3 basketball team ousted in quarters:

The Indian women's 3x3 basketball team lost 21-10 against Chinese Taipei, who remain unbeaten at Hangzhou, in the women's 3x3 basket-ball quarter-final. Vaishnavi Yadav scored seven points, the most by an Indian player, again. However, the Chinese Taipei team's attacking prow-ess proved a task too difficult to handle for India.

Earlier today, India won 16-6 against Malaysia in the pre-quarterfinal. Vaishnavi Yadav, the 21-year-old Indian player, was the top-scorer with nine points. All four Indian players scored at least one point.

GOLF: Anirban falter in men's round 3:

The Indian men's golf team, headlined by Anirban Lahiri, slipped down two positions after the third round. India are now eighth with a score of 626, -32 to par, in the team event with one round to go.

Meanwhile, Anirban Lahiri scored two-over in round 3 as he dropped down to T17 in the men's individual standings. SSP Chawrasia (T20), Khalin Joshi (T24) and Shubhankar Sharma (T34) are also far away from the golf podium positions.

BOXING: Narender Berwal through to men's +92kg semis:

Narender Berwal secured a 5:0 win on points against Iman Ramezanpourdelavar of IR Iran in the Men's +92kg quarter-final. While the judges ruled in favour of the Iranian boxer in the first round, Narender was the dominant pugilist in the other two.

CANOE SPRINT: India through to C1 500m, C2 500m and K2 500m:

Niraj Verma clocked 4:31.626 to finish first in the men's canoe single 1000m semi-final and stormed into the final. Binita Chanu Oinam and Parvathy Geetha also raced into the women's kayak double 500m final with a time of 2:07.036 in the semi-final. The Indian men's canoe double 500m team also went through to the final, courtesy of a third-place, clocking 1:57.225, finish in the semi-final.

HANDBALL: Indian women's team seal dominant win against Nepal

The Indian women's handball team beat Nepal 44-19 in the Group B encounter. Nidhi Sharma smashed 11 goals while Mitali Sharma also netted seven. India scored 75.86 per cent of their shots in the match. However, India failed to break into the top two of the Group B standings and did not make the semis.

TABLE TENNIS: Manika Batra loses singles quarters:

Manika Batra was defeated 4-2 by Chinese player Yidi Wang in the women's singles quarter-final. Yidi Wang, a World Championship bronze medallist, won the first, third, fourth and sixth games while the 28-year-old Manika Batra fought back in the second and fifth games.

BASKETBALL: Men's 3x3 team end campaign after defeat vs Iran:

The Indian men's 3x3 basketball team lost 19-17 against the Islamic Republic of Iran in the qualification to quarter-final round. India's Prince-pal Singh top-scored with nine points while Sahaji Pratap Singh Sekhon notched seven points in the match.

TABLE TENNIS: Manav-Manush ousted in quarters:

Indian men's table tennis pair Manav Thakkar and Manush Shah were knocked out in the quarter-final after a 3-2 defeat versus top seeds Woojin Jang and Jonghoon Lim.

The 23-year-old Manav Thakkar and Manush Shah, 22, lost the first and third games but bounced back on both occasions. While they also led 9-6 in the final game, the Republic of Korea pair made a comeback of their own to make the semi-final.

VOLLEYBALL: DPR Korea beat India in women's team opener

The Indian women's volleyball team lost 98-80 against the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in the Pool A match at the Asian Games 2023. While India won the first set 25-23, DPR Korea bounced back to win three sets in a row.

Soorya topped the scoring charts for India with 18 points. DPR Korea's Hyonju Kim smashed 30 points, leading her team to victory. India will go up against China in the second women's volleyball match tomorrow at 4:30 PM IST.

ATHLETICS: Murali Sreeshankar through to long jump final

The 24-year-old Murali Sreeshankar jumped 7.97m in the men's long jump qualification round to make the final. The Asian Championships silver medallist will feature tomorrow in the final at 4:40 PM IST. Jeswin Aldrin, too, is through to the men's long jump final after ranking sixth overall with a best of 7.67m.

Meanwhile, Ajay Kumar Saroj ranked second in heat 1 while Jinson Johnson ranked fifth in heat 2 to advance into the men's 1500m final, starting at 6:00 PM IST tomorrow.

ATHLETICS: Yarraji makes women's 100m hurdles final:

Jyothi Yarraji, an Asian champion, clocked 13.03 seconds in the women's 100m heats at the 19th Asian Games. The 24-year-old hurdler qualified second in her heat, third overall, for the final, which will contested tomorrow at 6:45 PM IST. Nithya Ramraj also made the final after a 13.30 seconds finish in the heats.

ROLLER SKATING: Kasturi Raj fifth in speed skating final

Aarathy Kasturi Raj scored three points while finishing fifth in the women's speed skating 10000m point-elimination race. The 29-year-old clocked 17:41.159.
