Para Badminton meet held at Itanagar

ITANAGAR: The Paralympic Association of Arunachal (PAA) under the aegis of Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) organized the second state level Para Badminton Championship cum selection trail-2021 at MLA Cottage badminton stadium near here on Sunday.

Attending the programme as chief Guest, Minister Sports & Youth Affairs Mama Natung appreciated the organization to organize such an event for the empowerment of the physically abled people.

He said the state government and department of sports in particular is always prompt and ready to provide every facility to sports organizations to encourage and involve youths in sports activities.

Meanwhile, PPA President Nabam James said the motive behind the championship is to select players from the state to participate in upcoming 4th national Para Badminton Championship-2021, which is scheduled to be held at Odisha.

He said there is a strict direction by the PCI that every individual taking part in the sports should go under selection process from the concerned state sports federation. Therefore, PAA is also organizing the selection process during the championship.

"Though this is the second state level Para Badminton championship organized in the state, the selection trail is the first as we have to send the selected to participate in the national Para Badminton Championship," he said, informing that around 16 players from different districts are participating in the championship.
