Lineysha Creates New Record Shivangi, Bikram Make Podium Finish

GUWAHATI: Assam swimmer Shivangi Sarma collected her third medal in the 75th Senior National Aquatic Championship at the Zakir Hussain Aquatic complex here today. Host added another medal in their tally through Bikarm Changmai on Day 3 of the competition.

Promising swimmer Shivangi today won silver in the women 50mtr Freestyle clocking 26.86. Avantika Sudhir Chavan (26.65) of RSPB bagged gold and Olympian Manna Patel (26.93) from Gujarat collected bronze.

Bikram today participated in the men 50mtr Butterfly and collected bronze with timing 25.12. Harsh Saroha (Haryana, 25.00) and Benedicton Rohit (TNSA, 25.09) won gold and silver medals respectively.

Another Assam swimmer Astha Choudhury narrowly missed a medal in the Women, 50m Butterfly after she finished the contest in fourth place. Divya Satija (Haryana), Nandini Pethkar (Maharashtra) and Tanishi Gupta (Karnataka) bagged top three positions.

Meanwhile Karnataka swimmer Lineysha created a new National record in the women 200mtr Breaststroke. She took 2:39.38 to win gold and also erase the name of Saloni Dalal (2:41.88) from the record book. Chahat Arora (Punjab) and S Lakshya (Karnataka) picked silver and bronze in this event. Siva of Karnataka today picked up another gold from the pool and this time in the men, 400m Medley with 4:31.71. Yug Chelani (Rajasthan) and Emil Robin Singh finished second and third respectively.

Bhavya Sachdeva (Delh), Vritti Agarwal (Telengana) and Richa Mishra (Police) bagged first three positions in the Women 1500m Freestyle.

After the end of day III Karnataka are leading the medal tally with 17 medals (9-3-5). SSCB (4-2-2) and Delhi (3-0-0) are in the second and third place respectively. Assam are in 12th place with 4 medals (0-2-2).
