Melbourne: Steve Smith registered his 11th Test century against India, the most by any batter, during the fourth match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Friday. Before this match, Smith was joint with England’s Joe Root at 10 hundreds post his ton in the third Test in Brisbane earlier this month.

Smith reached the milestone in 167 balls with the help of two sixes and nine fours - his fifth ton at this venue. Incidentally, Smith’s best score at the MCG is also against India - 192. This is Smith’s 34th Test century. He has now entered the list of top 10 century makers in Tests and is now joint with Sunil Gavaskar, Mahela Jayawardene, Brian Lara, and Younis Khan. Agencies
