ABU DHABI: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) thrashed Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by four runs in the 52nd match of IPL 2021 on Wednesday.

After they lost the toss, the SRH batted first and put 141 runs on the scoredboard for their opponents losing seven wickets in 20 overs. However, while chasing the given target, the RCB could only score 137 runs in 20 overs losing six wickets. In the last over, RCB could not score eight runs against the required 13 runs need to win the match. The presence of AB de Villiers was of no use as the SRH thrashed RCB.

However, after winning the match, the position of the SRH remained same. The Sunrisers are at number eight with three wins and six points from 13 matches; while on the other hand, with eight wins and 16 points from 13 matches, Bangalore are at number three.

Batting first, Hyderabad didn't start well and as Abhishek Sharma and Jason Roy who opened couldn't last long and were sent to pavillion early. After the dismissal of Abhishek on 13 runs, Captain Kane Williamson and Roy managed to saty on the crease and shared a 70-run partnership for the second wicket. Later, Harshal Patel dismissed Williamson for 31 runs.

Roy scored 44 runs

Priyam Garg (15), Abdul Samad (1), Wriddhiman Saha (10), Jason Holder (16) failed to contribute much as they were shown the way to the pavillion early. However, under such pressure Roy managed to score 44 runs with the help of five fours in his innings. Rashid Khan remained unbeaten on seven runs. For Bangalore, Harshal grabbed three wickets, while Daniel Christian took two wickets. Apart from them, George Garten and Yuzvendra Chahal got one wicket each.

Virat dismissal

The Bangalore team got off to a bad start as fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar sent skipper Virat Kohli (5) in the very first over to the pavillion. After this Daniel (1) and Shrikar Bharat (12) could not do any miracle and were sent to pavillion early. However, Devdutt Padikkal gave sigh of relief as he shared a 54-run partnership with Glenn Maxwell for the fourth wicket.

Later, the Maxwell's explosive innings came to an end as he was dismissed for 40 runs off 25 balls. He hit three fours and two sixes in his innings.

Samad caught him on Rashid Khan's ball. From here, in the last over, the Bangalore needed 13 runs to win. Though De Villiers and Garten were at the crease, but they could not do much other than watching their team losing.
