GUWAHATI: Uncertainty prevails over the FIFA U-17 Women World Cup and the competition may witness one more postponement because of COVID-19.

The pandemic didn't allow all the Federations to finish their qualifying round and it is still uncertain whether these would be completed on time. A final decision in this regard is expected by the end of this month.

The competition was originally scheduled in November this year but due to pandemic it is rescheduled to February-March 2021. However these dates now also look doubtful.

A source from the Assam Football Association although not confirmed that the second postponement of the competition is certain but at the same time he also said that after getting news from the different sources it looks like that the event may be postponed again unless the qualifying rounds are completed on time or the respective Federations cancelled the qualifying rounds and nominate the participating teams on the basis of ranking which had done by the other Federations.

It may be mentioned here that 16 teams including host India will participate in the competition. Five venues will host the event and Guwahati, which is selected as one of the venue, will organize the opening match.
