Veer Birsa Munda Memorial Football meet kicks off in Bordumsa

BORDUMSA: The Veer BirsaMunda Memorial Football Tournament kicks off here this afternoon at BirsaMunda playground at Mohong Mura village under Bordumsa circle in Changlang District of Arunachal Pradesh. The event is being organized by All Adivasi Student Association of Arunachal Pradesh

The cash prize tournament with 24 participating teams from across the various advasi belts from Bordumsa and neighbouring Assam was formally inaugurated by Rautu Mura the headman of Mohong Mura -an adivasi inhabited pocket of Bordumsa.

'The tournament carries the several cash prizes with break -ups from 20, 000 for the Championship to 1000 for the best player of the turney', informed JibanKhariya the president of the organizing committee adding 'the primary objective of the event was no doubt to promote sportsman spirits but also seeks to provide a common platform for the youth segments of the Adivasi society in this border location of Bordumsa to foster a sense of solidarity and fraternity among all.

'The tournament is being played on a knock -out format', added MrKhariya the youth leader.

Meanwhile, the maiden day tournament brought smiles upon team BordumsaAdivasi football team(BAFT) which defeated its rival team Konapather FC by 2-0.

RuelLakra and BandanUrang of the team BAFT the winner team scored 1 each after the magnificent hits at crucial hour just in decisive 3 minutes following the fierce battle between the two antagonist teams. Team Konapather FC though maintained a steady stand on the ground throughout putting a tough resistance yet it finally yielded defeat much against the expectations of the audience.

However, the PhilobariBirsaMunda FC and Digboi AASAA FC would lock horns on the second day of the battle on Saturday.
