Volleyball Competition Organized in Hojai by Assam Police

LUMDING: Assam Police and Rabindranath Tagore University Student Union have hosted the Hojai District Volleyball Competition in Lumding of Assam. The key idea behind hosting this event is to encourage the youth of the region to take up more sports and develop themselves. It is also an initiative by the Hojai Police to encourage the creation of a narcotics-free society.

A large number of youths from the region came to the district capital of Hojai to participate in the sporting event. They braved the scorching heat to play volleyball and compete among themselves.

As per the orders of the Chief Minister of Assam, the Hojai Police and the student’s union of Rabindranath Tagore University, Hojai took part in the district-level competition. The event was organized in the playground of the Lumding National School in Lumding.

A total of 10 teams participated in this sporting event including Lumding College Team A, Lumding College Team B, Shankardev Sports Academy, Lanka College, Super Spike RTU, 2nd APTF Lumding and Hojai Police. A large number of players from across the state reportedly took part in this sporting event.

The organizing and conducting of the sporting event was overseen by the Superintendent of Police for the district. He mentioned that the drug menace is very rampant in the region and this event has been organized to educate the students and youth of the region about the addiction to drugs and its ill effects. He also added that more and more youth of the region are falling into the trap of narcotics and that sports can serve as a motivation against such ill habits and prevent them from destroying their own lives. He also mentioned that sports will go a long way in protecting not only their own future but the future of the country as well.
