NEW DELHI: As India gets ready for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the selection debate has also been heated up, especially in regard to the wicket-keeper batter. Though most positions in the team appear to be well-defined, this one position has become highly debated among cricketing experts and former players, with three players now in the fray for the all-important position.

KL Rahul is likely to be the most consistent wicket-keeper batter for India in One-Day Internationals. He has a very good balance of batting and wicket-keeping skills, which have got him a regular slot in the team. The competition is very tough with Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson in the fray.

Pant, a man known for his explosive batting and game-changing ability, still remains one of the favorites of many. His inconsistency with the gloves and the shorter format of the game, however, raises doubts. Samson, on the other hand, has promised a lot as a calm wicket-keeper with solid technique and a batter.

The debate took a new high with former cricketers Sanjay Manjrekar and Sanjay Bangar leaving out Pant in their 15-man squad predictions, and the controversy seems to be mounting further. It is believed by some that his aggressive batting may be invaluable. Others feel that Rahul's consistency and Samson's reliability make them a stronger option.
